Why Do Sky Lanterns Fly?

The sight of sky lanterns is intriguing; they never cease to astonish me. I constantly wonder how they work, what makes them rise up into the sky and stay there for such a long time just before they descend back to earth. I realize it has to be rely on the laws of physics laws but I want far more comprehensive clarification of how this special object works through the wonders of science.

Sky Lanterns have become a frequent sight in recent years. They are normally seen and are popular in ceremonies and anniversaries. There are not that many individuals who would claim they are not mesmerized or enchanted by the sight of these lanterns or flying lanterns as they are also known. As they light up the skies either at nighttime or of course in the day time, you can’t but acclaim this really is physics in action. I did a little bit of research and arrived up to what best explains how this object is lifted into your sky and stays there for at least length 15 to 20 minutes at a time.

The basic principle is the use of very hot air rising upwards in a cooler atmosphere. When hot air fills the sky flying lantern, thus heating it, the response and direct consequence is that the sky lantern rises upwards, similar to a larger hot air balloon. This is because hot air is lighter than cooler denser air, hence the reason why the flying lantern starts flying or indeed floats upwards. The body collects hot air which is created by the heat from the wax fuel cell which it lit prior to the lantern launch. Then after approximately 1-2 minutes the body has enough hot air for the sky lantern to rise and float upwards into the sky. The wax fuel cell then continues to fill the lantern with this hot air which is why the lantern does not fall to the ground. It will however slowly float back down after the fuel cell has completely burnt out. This is when the sky lanterns which are also known as Chinese lanterns slowly parachute back down to earth. This causes no danger to the environment or surroundings as the lanterns are not ablaze at this time. The wick is then safe to touch because at this time it is cool.

The materials used in the making of these great objects are very light such are rice paper and light weight bamboo strips, the wick are also very light indeed. If the materials were heavy the lanterns would not be able to fly.

When using sky flying lanterns, flying lanterns people must take care similar to when using fireworks, although these lanterns are much safer. This is because it uses a naked flame. All Chinese lanterns come with instruction manuals and safety guidelines which have to be strictly adhered to. Safety is paramount in the use of them.

Sky lanterns are now so readily available to purchase on the internet. But you must be careful when choosing a supplier or online retailer. This is because many companies now selling these lanterns are using suppliers from China who produce very low quality sky lanterns which are often very dangerous. The Chinese lanterns made in China are mass produced often using materials such as fiberglass or asbestos. We have done our research and found that the best quality lanterns are from Thailand, many of which are handmade from environmentally friendly materials.

So please be careful when choosing where to buy your sky lanterns and when using them. Most of all enjoy them!

Why Is My Ex Girlfriend Still Texting Me?

So she dumped you. It hurts, it stings, it’s the most crushing feeling in the world. You spend hours upon hours telling her how you love her. How much she means to you, and it only takes her seconds to tell you she’s no longer interested. She’s finished with the relationship, and she’s moving on.

So why in the world is she still text messaging you?

When an ex girlfriend is still texting you after the break up, there’s a definite reason behind it. Actually, there are several. Some of them are good, some of them are bad, but all of them can be used as indicators as to where she is mentally and emotionally.

And if you want to get her back? You’ll need to know exactly what these texts mean, and how each of them should be properly handled.

Reasons Your Ex Girlfriend Still Texts You

Let’s get one thing straight: it’s always hard to let go. Even if she’s the one who broke things off, you and your girlfriend shared time together. You have memories, you share special feelings that still exist. Nothing can change that except TIME.

For this reason, time is certainly of the essence. The longer you wait before acting, the further away your ex girlfriend will go. Mentally, emotionally, she’ll drift away if you don’t do something to keep her interested, which is why moving quickly and acting properly is so vital to making her want you again.

Back to the texting… an ex who texts you is still thinking about you. This is undeniable, but don’t get excited just yet. There’s no guarantee she’s interested, or even thinking of wanting you back.

Yet your ex can’t bury her feelings so quickly. Those feelings are still there, and there are specific reconnection techniques you can learn to bring those feelings back to the surface. This is one of the later – and most important – of the steps to getting her back.

So yes, it’s good that she’s texting you. But should you text her back? Well… that’s where things get sticky…

What To Do When Your Ex Girlfriend Texts

An ex who keeps texting after the break up is leaning on your old relationship for support. She wants you to be “there” (in case she needs you), but not THERE (romantically). This does you absolutely no good, but it benefits her for several reasons:

  • She gets the comfort of still talking to you
  • By answering her texts she feels secure that you’re still interested
  • Your ex girlfriend gets to know exactly where you are (i.e. not going anywhere)

All of these things give her strength. They give her willpower. Worst of all, they give her the confidence to continue with the breakup.

This is the complete opposite of what you want. After a girl breaks up with you, her first priority is to make sure her decision was the right one. She’ll attempt to justify that decision to herself, to friends, and sometimes to family. In short, she wants to know she DID THE RIGHT THING.

By seeing how much you’re still into her, and by talking to you through text messages, she’s ratifying that decision. The more you chase her by answering her texts, the easier it is for her to run. Why? Because she knows SHE HAS YOU. She can go out, see other people, and eventually drift away… all with the confidence of knowing you’re a fallback plan in case something goes wrong.

“But I don’t mind being her plan B. I can wait for her… “

That’s what you’re thinking, right? This is what you told her?

Well forget that. That type of thinking is lame and desperate, at a critical time when you need to be as strong and Alpha as you possibly can.

Best Thing To Do When Texting Your Ex

Want to know the greatest thing you can do when an ex girlfriend text-messages you? Totally ignore her. Yes, I know you want her back. And yes, I know ignoring that text will probably be the hardest thing you’ve ever done. But believe me, writing her back is only justifying her decision to stay broken up.

She’s pushed you away, but she wants to keep you at arm’s length. She wants the comfort of realizing she can have you back at any time, but with that knowledge comes the authority to go out and give some other guy another try.

There are 12 irreversible mistakes people make when trying to win an ex back. Texting with your ex is one of them. Learn what the rest of them are, because the sooner you can avoid making these errors the faster you can put your girl back in your arms again.

Why Do I Feel Light Headed – The # 1 Reason Why!

Do you often experience dizziness and wonder why do I feel light headed? If so the real reason could surprise you! Find out now the 3 most common reasons for constantly feeling light headed and what you can do about correcting this aggravating and life altering condition.

3 Reasons Why you're light headed!

Low Blood Pressure – Quite often the feeling of light headedness and seeing stars or feeling dizzy is a direct result of a lack of oxygen or blood flow to the brain. Now low blood pressure is often not the actual cause in of itself but just another symptom. You will have to dig deeper to root out the real reason your body is experiencing low blood pressure.

Undiagnosed Allergy – This is a very common situation where a person eats a specific type of food regularly such as wheat or dairy and is in a constant state of reacting at all times. The only real true solution for this scenario is to eliminate the aggravating food itself from the body. A good start is to go on an elimination diet and remove all the common allergens such as dairy, wheat, corn, eggs, soy etc.

Adrenal Fatigue – This is in fact the core problem for an individual who suffers from light headedness. You see when your adrenals are burnt out through a variety of causes such as stress, ongoing allergies and poor sleep / diet habits your adrenals will begin to go into a state of fatigue where it can be very difficult for them to recover from.

The most common symptoms an individual will experience who has adrenal fatigue is exhaustion even when they wake up, low blood pressure, weakness, shortness of breath, increased incidence of allergies and brain fog where concentration is severely impaired.

I would suggest doing some research and getting an accurate diagnosis for what's really causing your symptoms. The ideal method is to use something called EDS testing or electro dermal screening, it's a very popular way of testing for various conditions, specifically allergies, however you will need to check with a naturopath or alternative practitioner as conventional doctors are not familiar with them. Alternatively naturopaths will often use a detailed questionnaire to determine the most likely cause of your current health symptoms.

Free Air Versus Coin Operated Air at the Gas Station – Why $0 is the Future of Business

If this totally frustrates you then here is my recent experience. It was Saturday morning, the 22nd of May 2010 and I had errands to run. As I was getting into my car, I noticed my front left tire looked as though it needed air. I took out my tire gauge and sure enough, it did. I did not want to drive a long distance in that condition so after my first errand, I pulled into a Shell station and there was a fee to use the air. Can you imagine paying for air? I refuse to unless I am traveling on the highway and have no alternative.

I drove off and pulled into a Sunoco and they also charged a fee. This particular station used to be another name brand station within the last 2-3 years. I cannot recall the name but the air was free at that time. I headed to the Chevron across the street. There is also a fee for using their air. I left and drove about 2 miles approaching another Shell station. I was in the left turning lane and could see the air pump and it looked as though it was a coin operated one. I did not bother to stop.

As I was continuing on to my next destination, I realized that I was near a Wawa station and made a quick left turn before going straight through the traffic signal. I knew that 2 other Wawa locations offered free air and I would have gone to one of them but they both were off my route and I did not want to backtrack. I pulled into the Wawa, used the air pump, and was on my way when done. I wasted a lot of time that morning trying to locate free air.

In this economy, why would they continue to charge us to use their air all the while increasing their gas prices? I am an internet marketer and I need to make a point about offering something for free because that is what we do. Why do you think Wawa offers free air? In my opinion, they offer us something for free in order to get the up sale later. In other words, we will not charge you to fill up your 4 tires and spare, because we will offer you our reasonably priced gasoline and you will come inside our convenience store to purchase breakfast foods, sandwiches, salads, snacks, coffee or a soft drink totaling 3-4 times the amount the air will cost. They do not need to charge us.

I have gone inside to pay cash for my gas and there are almost always a line of people purchasing coffee and breakfast foods in the early morning. Lunch is no different. This business decision is one that will truly pay off for them for years to come. Way to go Wawa. Maybe the others will develop the good business sense to follow suit.

Benefits Of Owning A Trampoline

There are numerous benefits that come with owning a trampoline. Not only does a trampoline encourage exciting bonding time with friends and family, it can also be a source of exercise to improve your health as well. Trampolines are fun for the entire family and a great way for hyperactive children to alleviate their energy.

With the rapidly increasing rate of obesity, the need for exercise is evident. Trampolines can help build stamina, strengthen your cardiovascular system, improve muscle control, and improve coordination. Children who jump on trampolines can improve their balance, agility, rhythm, and timing skills, which can aid them in other areas of their lives, such as athletics. Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. Jumping on a trampoline strengthens your heart by increasing circulation, which can reduce chances of developing cardiovascular disease. Using the trampoline on a regular basis can result in improvements to your physical appearance in areas such as weight loss and toning of your muscles. Trampoline exercise also increases bone density, which can prevent osteoporosis or fragile bones from developing.

While there are long lists of health benefits that can result from trampoline use, there are also other positive effects a trampoline may have. With modern day technology, such as video games, computers, and cell phones, it is sometimes difficult to get children outside and to get them active. Trampolines make kids excited about playing outside. By playing outside children get Vitamin D from sunlight, which assists with healthy bone growth. This means that children are getting healthier through exercising and gaining Vitamin D while enjoying themselves.

There is no age limit for using these jumping machines. Whether you are 3 years old or 60 years old, a trampoline can be a good source for fun and exercise for all family members. Trampolines are especially helpful for anyone recovering from an injury or accident, which is why most physical therapy offices own at least one.

In today’s busy society it is sometimes difficult to find affordable activities for the whole family to make time for and participate in. Trampolines are the perfect solution to that problem. With a trampoline quality time can be spent with your family in your own backyard, eliminating any inconvenient travel time and expenses. Parents watching their children perform trampoline tricks or simply bounce around, will leave children with memories that will last a lifetime.

History And Background Of Betta Fish

Historically speaking, Betta Fish are said to have gotten their name from an ancient clan of Asian warriors called the “Bettah.” They were given these warriors’ names because about 150 years ago people enjoyed participating in a popular sport that involved the fighting of two of these warrior fish. (In fact, the sport was so popular that it was regulated – and taxed – by the King of Siam!)

One interesting note about Betta fish fighting is that, unlike cock or dog fighting in the west, at Siamese fighting fish tournaments, the actual fight was more to test the bravery of the fish, rather than a fight to see how much damage would be inflicted, or a death match.

Spectators bet on how long a particular fish would fight, and which one would give up first. (In fact, most fish would only fight once or twice, and then live out the remainder of their lives being pampered and used for breeding.)

Natural Habitat

A Betta fish’s natural habitat is in shallow, tropical water. This is because they need to be able to surface frequently, in order to breathe air. They can be found in nature in rice paddies, drainage ditches, slow moving streams and fresh water ponds. Betta fish have even been known thrive in large puddles! Their natural food source is insects and mosquito larvae.

How Breeding Began

According to historical accounts, a close friend of the King of Siam, Dr. Theodore Cantor received a pair of breeding Bettas from the king in 1840. The doctor bred them and studied them for several years, and then wrote a scientific paper about them, giving them a Latin name of “Macropodus Pugnax.” However, shortly after his paper was published, Dr. Cantor discovered that a species by that name already existed, and so the fish were renamed “Betta Splendens.”

Several breeding pairs of Bettas where sent to Germany in 1896 and then in 1910, Mr. Frank Locke of San Francisco California imported several Bettas to the U.S.A.

One of the fish that he received had unusual red fins – and he excitedly thought he had discovered a new species, and named it “Betta Cambodia.” In reality, he had one of the first of the Betta splendens that had naturally developed new colors and characteristics through breeding.

Since that time, breeders have been able to develop Bettas with all of the vibrant coloring and varied fin shapes that we find today. Betta breeding has become a profitable and ongoing passion for many people today, many of whom started with just one or two Bettas in a small aquarium.

Bob Peoples Deadlift Training

For those who don’t know of Bob Peoples, here is some background.

Peoples was born in 1910 in Johnson City, Tennessee and by the age of 9, he developed a passion for weight training. He excited that passion by purchasing the Farmer Burns course and reading “Strength” magazine.

By the time Bob had reached the age of 18 he had become very interested in the deadlift. He did all around training, but his specialty from this time on was the deadlift. He made a weight of 350 and in a year had worked up to 450 at a bodyweight of 165. His first competition of any kind was the 1937 Tennessee State Weightlifting Championships.

The next two years of training brought much improvement. Again he traveled to Chattanooga and lifted in the 1939 State Championships. His total had improved 65 pounds but the highlight of this occasion was a deadlift of 600 pounds.More competitions and higher lifts followed. His crowing moment came in during the great Red Shield Boy’s Club Variety Show of 1949. Peoples, at a bodyweight of 181 pounds, set a then world record (for his weight class) by deadlifting 725.5 pounds.

In 1979, Peoples wrote a book entitled “Developing Physical Strength,” which became an instant classic. Peoples passed away in 1992 at the age of 82.

Some of his top lifts are as follows:

Squat – 530 pounds

Bench Press – 300 pounds (didn’t work on it much)

Deadlift – 725.5 pounds

All drug free….

Here is just one of many routines Peoples liked to do.

Bob Peoples Deadlift Training

Deadlift 1 x 15-20, 1 x 10, 1 x 8, 1 x 6, 6 x 1 (10 sets total)

Squat 5 x 5

Press 5 x 5

Notes: Peoples would workout 4-5 days per week. He liked to lift heavy, so there was no light sets. On the deadlifts, he would up the weight for every set until he reached 90% of max, which he would pound out 6 sets of singles. Peoples would use the same weight on the squat and overhead press for every set. If you want to follow this routine, I suggest doing it 2-3 days per week. As always, get plenty of rest, eat good food and drink lots of water. Remember to lift heavy and with max intensity.

Understand that to be successful in any weight training program – hard work is a must! Half-hearted effort does nothing for you. If you’re new to weight training or grossly out of shape, consult a physician first. End of disclaimer.

Formostar Infrared Body Wrap VS Infrared Sauna: The Differences Revealed

Over the last few years I have often been asked “What is the difference between a Formostar Infrared Body Wrap and an Infrared Sauna?” Well there is quite a difference to say the least but first let me explain what Far Infrared is.

Keeping it simple, Far Infrared (FIR) light is a form of thermal energy and is invisible to the eye. It is the warmth you feel on your skin when you are outside in the sun. FIR is measured in wavelengths called microns which humans best absorb within the 3- to 50- micron range with the optimum being 9.4 microns. This is the exact wavelength the Formostar is programmed to.

The effects of FIR weaken with distance, so the closer to the source of the FIR your body is, the more impact they will have. This is where the difference between a wrap and a sauna begin!

When close to the body, FIRs can penetrate 4-5cm/2inches through skin (dermis), muscle, blood vessels, lymphatic glands, nerves and cells. Infrared also only travels in straight line and does not reflect. Sauna FIR elements are hidden behind walls and remain out of sight, so it can be guess work finding out how far away from them you might be. These elements will warm you and the air around you; however the penetration will not be as deep into the tissue layers. Due to its close proximity to the skin, 93% of the rays emitted from the Formostar are absorbed through the skin and deeper tissue. Another advantage the wrap has over a sauna is that when having a Formostar Infrared Body Wrap your head is free from heat and you can breathe clean room air, an unavoidable problem associated with a sauna.

Most Infrared Saunas only last for half an hour session. It actually takes the body 20-30 minutes to warm to a fat burning stage thus a sauna is over just as you are starting! A Formostar lasts fifty mins which gives you more than enough time to sweat up a storm and burn up to 1200 calories.

Far Infrared energy vibrates the cells helping to break down the connections between deposits such as fats and toxins. Continuous vibration of the body’s molecules increases dermis temperature, dilates blood vessels, stimulates circulation and activates metabolism in tissues and cells. With the targeted and deep effect of the Formostar wraps, the areas we have larger deposits of fat on(tummy, hips and thighs) are targeted so those cells underneath will be activated more and release more fat and toxins.

The Formostar is German made and only machine of its kind in the world to use non-allergenic high density silicone in its wraps. This is necessary in order for the wraps to be certified for use on the human body. Being silicon, the wraps are impermeable to bacteria and are also very easily cleaned of body fluids with an organic sanitiser in between clients. Whilst there have been bacterial issues with multiple users in a sauna, there are no known issues from use of the Formostar.

The Formostar has been approved as a Type 2 Medical Device in Europe, US and Australia and has been safety and compliance tested in Australasia. It is listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods and is the only Infrared device with these approvals. If products are not listed as approved therapeutic devices, companies are not legally allowed to make any claims that their products can achieve specific results especially for weight-loss and pain relief. In order to make claims that their product can actually produce these results, the companies must have their own studies. You will find that most other infrared products rely on articles published on the web and anecdotal evidence with regard to the benefits of infrared to sell their products. The Formostar has two clinical studies and a third underway.

Each Formostar client must complete a medical questionnaire prior to their wrap to ensure they have no contraindications. Other products which heat the body do not do so. All staff must undergo training and be accredited in order to use the Formostar on clients; other Infrared products do not appear have this accreditation process.

The Top 5 Tips You Need to Know For Healthy Dining Out

1. Choose your restaurant wisely.

O If you are traveling, ask your hotel concierge, friends, or local people you meet where you will find healthy options on the menu.
O Use common sense when dining out in your area. You know the best choices – choose them
O Always try choosing a restaurant you have visited in the past and know for a fact they will cook to order with your special requests

2. Study the menu.

O Look for the best choice of protein, which is usually the fish, chicken or steak on the menu.
O Never choose heavy, sauce-laden dishes that are usually too high in butter, creams, sugar or salt.
O Always choose broiled, roasted, steamed or poached over all else.

O Even if finished in the oven and described as a baked entrée, dishes are often battered, fried, deep fried or pan fried first.
O Stay away from the bread basket, potatoes, fries and pastas.
O Avoid the butters, creams, creamed sauces, hollandaise, au gratin, cheese sauces and caramelized and sugared foods.
O No oil or butter – and all sauces and dressings on the side.

4. Choose a restaurant that caters to special requests.

O As soon as you've been listed, ask for a non-mineralized bottle of water and let the server know that you do not want the bread basket. Ask them to bring out a mixed green salad or mixed veggie appetizer with the water to keep you occupied while you're checking the menu.
O Ask that all sauces, butters, dressings and condiments be on the side for you to choose the amount you use.
O Choose the smallest portion for your protein choice; For example, an eight- to ten-ounce steak rather than 14 to 20 or more ounces.
O For dressings, always choose low-fat Italian or simple oil and vinegar.

5. Take "response-ability" for your meal.

O Avoid the foods you know you should avoid and choose wisely with special requests.
O Remove all fat and skin from any of the protein choices.
O Always choose vegetables, double salad or greens in place of white carbohydrates pastas, spreads and potatoes.
O If possible, avoid alcohol. The calories are much tastier when ate as part of the food portion of the meal, and you can add fresh fruit or sorbet at the end of the meal if you skip the alcohol.
